Heather & Me in the Gondola at Snow Basin

Today my Dad took Cory, Heather & I to Snow Basin for a little snowboarding. I have been dozens of times, but not for a few years, but Heather & Cory are novices, and needed a little instruction. Dad, of course, took the safe route and stuck with ski's.

We had a blast. Snow Basin is by far the best resort in Utah (in my opinion), and the conditions were near perfect. (Just a little more sun, and a little more powder would have completed the perfection.)

The first couple runs were spent on the bunny hill, going way too slow trying to teach Heather how to stay standing on her board without breaking her face, or spraining her wrists. After a few painful frustrating falls, she finally got to the bottom of the bunny hill, and I made her take her second run ever on a much bigger hill: four times as long, four times as steep. I'm evil that way.

Well, the "baptism by fire" method worked, and she made it down the hill with a newly acquired skill. I was so proud.

Although, my Dad really is the one that stuck with her through that run. Cory & I got impatient and sped down the hill. We then got hot chocolate and waited at the lodge for them before taking another run.

Fun day, long overdue. How is it that I live in this state and don't go snowboarding more often? Oh wait, I remember why: the $60 lift pass. It has a way of deterring me.

Well, hopefully I'll go again before the snow melts this year. We'll see! Click on that picture to see the whole fun series of photos.
